Congratulations to Jaden Lee, DMD/PhD candidate in our lab! Jaden was recently awarded an NIH F30 Predoctoral Individual National Research Service Grant Award from NIDCR. The purpose of the NIH F30 grants is to enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising predoctoral students who have matriculated in a combined dual-doctoral degree training program and intend to pursue careers as physician-scientists or other clinician-scientists.
JoAnn Roberts awarded F31 grant from the NIH

Congratulations to Ms. JoAnn Roberts, PhD Candidate in our lab who is recently awarded prestigious F31 Predoctoral Individual National Research Service Grant Award from NIDCR! The purpose of this award is to enable promising predoctoral students to obtain individualized, mentored research training from outstanding faculty sponsors while conducting dissertation research in scientific health-related fields relevant to the missions of the participating NIH Institutes. This fellowship mechanism is expected to enhance the individual’s potential to develop into a productive, independent research scientist.

JoAnn Roberts awarded a scholarship to study at the prestigious Karolinska Institutet

JoAnn Roberts M.S., a PhD candidate in our lab, has been granted a scholarship to study redox biology this summer at the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. This is the prestigious institute where Nobel prizes are annually awarded by the Nobel assembly.

Ralee Spooner honored for Periodontics achievement by AAP

Ralee Spooner, a long time member of Dr. Yilmaz' laboratory, was awarded by the American Academy of Periodontology for his achievement in periodontology. This award is given at each dental school to the graduating senior who displays the highest level of academic and clinical achievement related to periodontics.

First year dental student chosen as national research finalist

Dr. Yilmaz' student from University of Florida, Kyulim Lee, was chosen as one of 9 AADR finalists for her project, “Porphyromonas Evades Ubiquitination-NDP52/p62 Machinery and Induces Autophagosome-like Vacuoles for Survival in the Oral Mucosa.”
