Congratulations to Ms. Bridgette Wellslager, PhD Candidate in our lab, who was recently awarded the prestigious F31 Predoctoral Individual National Research Service Grant from the NIDCR! The purpose of this award is to enable promising predoctoral students to obtain individualized, mentored research training from outstanding faculty sponsors while conducting dissertation research in scientific health-related fields relevant to the missions of the participating NIH Institutes. This fellowship mechanism is expected to enhance the individual's potential to develop into a productive, independent research scientist.

Jaden Lee placed first in AADOCR Hatton Competition

Congratulations to Jaden Lee, DMD/PhD Candidate in our lab, who placed first in the 2022 AADOCR Hatton Competition. The AADOCR Hatton Competition is designed to designate junior investigators that exhibit potential for a productive career in dental research. As a winner for the Hatton Competition, Jaden Lee will also present his novel research findings at the 2022 annual IADR General Session.

Congratulations to Jaden Lee, DMD/PhD Candidate in our lab! Jaden was recently awarded an NIH F30 Predoctoral Individual National Research Service Grant from the NIDCR. The purpose of the NIH F30 grants is to enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising predoctoral students who have matriculated in a combined dual-doctoral degree training program and intend to pursue careers as physician-scientists or other clinician-scientists.

JoAnn Roberts awarded a scholarship to study at the prestigious Karolinska Institutet

JoAnn Roberts, M.S., a PhD candidate in our lab, has been granted a scholarship to study redox biology in Summer 2017 at the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden. This is the prestigious institute where Nobel prizes are annually awarded by the Nobel assembly. 

Ralee Spooner honored for Periodontics achievement by AAP
April 12, 2016

Ralee Spooner, a long time member of Dr. Yilmaz's laboratory, was awarded by the American Academy of Periodontology for his achievement in periodontology. This award is given at each dental school to the graduating senior who displays the highest level of academic achievement related to periodontics.

DMD Student Wins First Place in the Hatton Competition at AADR

While Dr. Yilmaz was at the University of Florida, one of her students, Kyulim Lee, won first place at AADR for her project, "Porphyromonas gingivalis Evades Ubiquitination-NDP52/p62 Machinery and Induces Autophagosome-like Vacuoles for Survival in the Oral Mucosa."

Caroline Jermanus receives AADR award
January 30, 2009

Dr. Yilmaz's student, Caroline Jermanus, was awarded the prestigious AADR block travel grant to allow her to travel to the annual AADR meeting. This grant is given to students with exceptional abstracts.
