Dr. Elsy Orellana graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina, where she earned her specialty Certificate in Periodontics and Implant Surgery as well as her Master of Science in Dentistry in 2024. She successfully defended her thesis on research involving cross-sectionally investigating how the overall presence and localization trends of P. gingivalis, F. alocis, and various autophagy markers differ in healthy versus moderate to severe periodontitis and in peri-implantitis-afflicted tissues.

 

Dr.Orellana's studies in the Dr.Yilmaz Lab earned her a finalist position for the AAP Balint-Orban competition in 2024. She currently practices at a Periodontics Specialty practice in Tampa, FL.
