Casey Derieux is a recent graduate of Clemson University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, and Minors in Biological Sciences and Music Performance. During her time at Clemson, she spent one year working in the Seekatz laboratory, studying the opportunistic pathogen Clostridium difficile. While in Dr. Seekatz's lab, she helped with projects analyzing how short-chain fatty acids can impact C. difficile's growth efficiency. In fall 2020, Casey joined the Yilmaz laboratory as a research specialist in order to assist the lab members with their various host & oral microbe interaction research projects.
